About the Webinar
This lecture will focus on methods of decontamination, one of the most important first steps to consider in the treatment of toxicity. Indications and methods for oral, ocular, and dermal decontamination will be discussed with varying species considered. Contraindications and complications with common decontamination methods will be covered. Additionally, less common forms of decontamination, such as intralipid therapy and extracorporeal elimination, will be touched on.
Speaker Bio
Dr. Jennifer Hopkins has been a consulting veterinarian at the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center since January 2021, and is also a supervisor on the hotline. Prior to joining the ASPCA, she worked in food animal welfare and regulation with the State of Iowa Department of Agriculture, and was in clinical practice in Chicago, IL. She obtained her veterinary degree from Cornell University. She is passionate about helping poisoned pets.
