About this Lecture
About this Lecture
The patient with haemoabdomen presents a challenge for the attending veterinarian. The presence of life-threatening hemorrhage, shock and decompensation require rapid patient assessment and therapy to prevent serious complications – coupled with the need to diagnose and manage the underlying cause. This lecture will present a detailed approach to the patient with haemoabdomen, including a review of modern resuscitation concepts, such as hypotensive resuscitation, damage control resuscitation, the value of early transfusion therapy, as well as the role of surgery in the stabilisation and therapy of these critical patients.
