Focus on Surgical Skills – Approach to the hip joint

Is the lameness due to the hip, lumbosacral or the stifle pathology? In this program, participants will be guided through hip manipulations that help differentiate the source of pain between the hip, lumbosacrum and stifle. Participants will then learn how to maximize diagnostic yield from radiographs and avoid common mistakes that lead to incorrect interpretation. This discussion will include the management options available for hip dysplasia and coxofemoral degenerative joint disease. Lasty this program will demonstrate how to perform a femoral head and neck excision arthroplasty.
