About this Lecture
When we refer to difficult cases we may be talking about uncommon or exotic diseases or cases where a patient’s condition worsens unexpectedly, or we are facing an adverse drug reaction. It is important to note that in all cases, the owner’s compliance is crucial for a successful outcome. Numerous factors can turn a typical clinical scenario into a challenging case, including but not limited to: unresponsiveness of the patient to treatment, the owner’s frustration or impatience, the high expenses needed for investigations and therapy, and unexpected test results, among others. Many of these cases are time and resource consuming for both the owner and veterinarian. Ideal is to optimize our protocols as best as possible and always be prepared to act fast and appropriately for that specific case. The objective of these presentations is to showcase two challenging cases that will increase awareness related to several dermatological diseases.
