About this Lecture
About this Lecture
In this program, participants will learn about the important role of avian clinical pathology in practice and understand that even in a clinical setting where the avian patient is not common, the veterinary staff can perform some basic tests to get a baseline on the health of the avian patient. Avian patients are the masters of deceit and will hide a myriad of diseases due to being a prey species. We will discuss what tests can be done, from basic non-invasive testing to the more extensive testing options. Demonstrate sampling techniques and which technique is best suited to each test. Discussion on blood volume and the difference between avian and mammalian cells. Finally, we will look at the interpretation of the test results and what this means for our avian patient.
