Dr. Rachel Peacock

BVSc MVMedSc MVS DipPractMgt MANZCVS DACVECC
Rachel has over 15 years’ experience as an emergency and critical care veterinarian and specialist. During this time she has treated thousands of pets exposed to poisons, venoms, accidental drug ingestions and other hazardous substances. Rachel oversees the development of resources used by the Animal Poisons Centre’s veterinarians and poisons information specialists and provides poisons continuing education to veterinarians around the country.

Rachel’s veterinary toxicology research has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and in 2014 she was awarded a Master’s degree for her research thesis on permethrin toxicosis in cats and the use of intravenous lipid emulsions. She has lectured to veterinarians Australia-wide and internationally on toxicology topics and techniques, and has extensive experience developing training programs for veterinarians practicing in the field of veterinary emergency and critical care.

Living in Melbourne’s beautiful Dandenong Ranges, Rachel is a keen gardener and is very mindful of the potential danger to pets of products commonly found in Australian homes and gardens; especially given she shares her home with two inquisitive and stubborn, yet small, terriers who like to investigate everything
